Cashmere Closets and a Giveaway

SAMSUNG CSC

Hey ladies (and gentleman)! I’m excited to finally tell you about my latest pet project. Since my last post I’ve been busy working on a consignment business with my mom. I LOVE consignment, it’s such a great way to score nice clothing and designer brands for a cheap price. The last time I went to a consignment shop I got an Alexander Wang tee for about $20. I’d never pay full price for a designer t-shirt but $20 was doable and I love it (it’s neutral and edgy at the same time) and I wear it all the time. One of my all-time favorite consignment store finds was a gorgeous burgundy wrap coat that I scored for about 1/3 of the retail price. I can’t wait to pull it out again in the fall.

Since my Mom and I both love consignment stores (and we had a lot of clothing to get rid of in order to streamline our capsule wardrobes a la “Lessons from Madame Chic”) we decided to start a business that would make consigning accessible and fun. Our business is called Cashmere Closets, and it functions in 2 ways: we have seasonal consignment parties where people can consign clothing and accessories and also shop while they sip wine and eat yummy snacks. We also have an online store now- check it out here. The online store contains a lot of new items that we just got in (including some designer items) and everything has been checked for quality. We’ll be adding more items as well.  In honor of a grand opening that we had recently, we’re also offering 15% off using code Grandopening at checkout and a giveaway for a $25 gift certificate to the online store. The giveaway is open to everyone in the US and internationally (we ship internationally) and the gift certificate can be used towards any item on the site . Check it out here and enter now 🙂  You can also follow Cashmere Closets on facebook here.

Thanks for reading and look out for my next post!

Jewelry Giveaway: Initial Necklace from Max and Chloe

I know I usually post giveaways on mondays but as a special treat for bearing with my crazy schedule this one is going up early. I love the idea of a signature necklace- a pretty classic piece that can be worn on its own or layered. Right now initial and monogram necklaces are very popular (for good reason!) Today’s giveaway is for an initial necklace from Max and Chloe. These necklaces are simple enough to wear with just about everything including work or weekend outfits, and manage to be  classic yet on trend.

5 Amazing Neutral Eyeshadows (Plus the Benefit Cosmetics Giveaway Winner Revealed)

My typical eye look for work or class has pretty much always been a thin line of black eyeliner and mascara (still loving the Benefit They’re Real mascara) plus some highlight powder, but if I’m going for a slightly dressier day look I’ll also use a very neutral shadow. Neutral eyeshadows are great because they’re versatile and can easily create nighttime looks when layered with other colors. If you’re looking for a neutral palette, there’s few who will disagree with the greatness of the Naked and Naked 2 palettes by Urban Decay.  At $50 each these palettes are pricey but worth it. However if you’re just looking for a great neutral shadow rather than an entire palette, here are a few of my faves:

MAC Eyeshadow in Soft Brown $15

Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Eyeshadow Smooth Hold in Kitten Heel $19

Shoe Giveaway: Custom Sandals or Ballet Flats that YOU Design from Shoes of Prey- Contest Closed

I’m so excited to be bringing you this giveaway because I love the concept of Shoes of Prey. The Shoes of Prey website lets you design your own custom shoes from 12 styles and over 170 different fabrics. This concept appeals to me because there’s been so many times in the past when I’ve had a pair of shoes in mind but I wasn’t able to find exactly what I was looking for in stores. It’s also pretty cool to design something that’s truly unique and that you can say is your own creation.

Follow the Law Books and Lipstick blog if you’re not following already.  Then leave a comment below with a short description of what kind of sandals or ballet flats you’d love to design (For example I’d love a pair of red patent leather ballet flats! 🙂 )

Bonus Entries (Optional): Like Law Books and Lipstick on Facebook here or follow the blog on twitter here. Leave an extra comment for each.

If you enter you’re also agreeing to the official rules I’ve posted below. And that’s it! I’ll randomly select a winner from the comments on July 31 (make sure to check back to see if you won) and the winner will receive a $129 egift certificate to Shoes of Prey (enough to cover the cost of a pair of flat sandals or a pair of ballet flats plus shipping).
